Full Description

Above Adventure is a Kilmarnock based charity enriching the Ayrshire Community through sport and outreach.

Above Adventure aims to use the sport of climbing to:

• Transform the lives of people living in Kilmarnock and throughout Ayrshire, especially those disadvantaged through disability, deprivation or circumstance

• Smash perceived barriers to participation and inclusion due to disability

• To save and celebrate local heritage, whilst contributing to the regeneration of Kilmarnock

A capital build project is underway, initiated and delivered by Above Adventure – to build a state of the art climbing facility to enable people of all ages and abilities to enjoy this awesome sport. At this exciting time, Above Adventure is looking for a new Chair and Treasurer to join them on their exciting journey to open a state-of-the-art climbing and bouldering facility in the West of Scotland this year.

If you have the expertise and energy to commit to a highly visible local project, and a hard-working team, we’d love to hear from you. All applications are welcome, but the board is particularly keen to hear from Trustees who’ve had previous board experience, a strong commercial background or have skills in Financial and Project management or Fundraising/Business Development.

The Chair will be confident commanding a board and ensuring actions are delivered and objectives met. The Treasurer will be someone who is comfortable with problem solving. The treasurer will also be a key part of the board steering committee, making strategic decisions about the opening of the centre and ensuring profitability.
