Full Description

Many individuals from Black and Minority Ethnic Communities would not be alive today if it wasn’t for the incredible work of the BHA.

BHA have been providing their support, and guidance, to communities for the last 30 years by offering a range of services in the areas of HIV and sexual health, Cancer, TB, mental health, and community health education. Since day one, this charity has fought the corner of communities and minority groups and are determined to make a difference in people’s lives, especially the often overlooked, disaffected, disadvantaged, and marginalised. The BHA are a fully inclusive organisation with a vision to become a society with equitable health and social care systems and services, to reduce inequalities and improve health and well-being

BME groups have higher rates of myeloma and stomach cancer, with one in four Black men being diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime and more likely to die compared to other ethnicities. A staggering 80% of all local Tuberculosis cases are in non–UK born BME communities. With BHA’s determined vision and its unique and unwavering commitment to supporting individuals and communities towards equality in health, they strive to see a day where Black and Minority Ethnic, disadvantaged, and other marginalised communities have the same access to health and social care services.
