Churches Action for the Homeless (CATH) is a local charity which supports, encourages, and promotes the development and delivery of services to alleviate and prevent homelessness and address the issue of poor housing. CATH seeks to work with others to improve the circumstances faced by people challenged by homelessness in all its forms in the Perth & Kinross Council area.

During the harsh winter of 1991, four women and several local church parishioners became concerned about the plight of individuals sleeping rough throughout Perth. Their compassion and concern led to the formation of CATH, which originated as a volunteer led soup kitchen. The soup kitchen started in St Mathews Church and expanded to various locations across Perth over the following years.

This incredible charity has grown, but the core values that led to its creation still drive CATH today. Recognising the associated problems that frequently accompany homelessness CATH work to alleviate those issues and help to maintain and improve the quality of life of their service users. CATH help a significant number of people each year to overcome homelessness and the related issues through various projects including a drop-in Day Centre, Tayview House, Floating Support, Outreach Team, Literacy Project and their local charity shop.

CATH is now looking to recruit a new Service Co-ordinator to join their dedicated team. The Service Co-ordinator will contribute to the management, planning and high standard delivery of support to CATH’s service users. The successful candidate will undertake quality assurance checks to make sure projects are operating in line with statutory regulations and company procedures. You will manage a small team of staff which will require you to lead, motivate and develop staff teams. You will ensure your staff team devises, implement, and monitor programmes of support to meet service users’ needs. The successful candidate will also work collaboratively with statutory and voluntary agencies.

The role requires an individual who can work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and on-call duties. The ideal candidate for the role would be required to obtain an SVQ Level 4 in Health and Social Care as well as an SVQ level 4 in Management or equivalent. CATH will consider individuals for the role who do not already have these qualifications if they have the relevant experience in Management with some experience in a Social Care environment or an experienced Social Care worker who has some Management or Supervisory experience and are willing to work towards gaining the relevant SVQs, which will be fully funded and supported by CATH. The post-holder will also be required to be in possession of a full and valid driver’s license.
